Kindergartners Receive Guardian Angel Pins

Happy Friday, Rams!

Dear Holy Spirit Families,
There is something especially beautiful about reminding our children that they are never alone. Today, as we celebrate the Feast of the Guardian Angels, we are invited to reflect on the loving presence of the angels God has given to watch over and guide each of us.

At Holy Spirit, we cherish the tradition of inviting our Kindergarten students to receive a blessed guardian angel pin to place on their bucket hats. This small pin carries a beautiful message: wherever our children go, their guardian angel is with them—watching over them, guiding them, and reminding them of God’s constant love and care.
For some of our youngest students, this ritual becomes a tangible expression of a profound truth of our faith. Each time they see their angel pin, we hope they will remember that God is always near and that they are surrounded by His love.

May the Feast of the Guardian Angels fill our hearts with gratitude for these heavenly companions and inspire us, as parents, caregivers, and educators, to continue nurturing our children’s faith with wonder, joy, and love.

May God bless our children and their guardian angels today and always.
With prayer and gratitude,
Mrs. Fleming & the HSCS Team

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED PLEASE!

Holy Spirit would not be able to offer all of the amazing activities, events, and resources we do if we didn't have incredible volunteers helping along the way! We are requesting that you consider one or more of the following ways to assist in the weeks ahead:
  1. INTERPRETERS FOR CONFERENCES - Are you fluent in English and either French, Haitian Creole/Haitian, Portuguese, and/or Spanish? Are you also able to maintain the confidentiality of students/families? If so, you would be a great asset to us at conference time. We need interpreters from time to time to assist! Reach out to Angelica Perez at angelicaperez@holyspirit-indy.org if interested.
  2. DIA DE LOS MUERTOS/Day of the Dead - We would love to have parents at each rotation assisting with activities, photography, etc. We will provide the activities and materials. Reach out to Amanda Mack at amack@holyspirit-indy.org if interested.
  3. "SEE US IN ACTION" OPEN HOUSE - On Thursday, November 12, we are inviting prospective families to see us in action. Ambassadors will give tours, and having a few parents available to welcome new families and share your own wonderful stories about Holy Spirit would be fantastic! Please contact Gloria Fernandez at gfernandez@holyspirit-indy.org if interested.
  4. ELF ON THE SHELF ANTICS - Each year, Elf on a Shelf appears the week before Christmas break to do silly things each morning at arrival. We'd love parent help with some new ideas and options. Do you have a horse or golf cart we could borrow? Perhaps you're willing to cover a class so a teacher can get involved in the mischief? Ideas are welcome! Please contact Gina Fleming at gfleming@holyspirit-indy.org if you wish to be involved.

Praying the Rosary in October

The following is an excerpt from https://www.teachingcatholickids.com/praying-the-rosary-in-october/.

By tradition, the Catholic Church dedicates each month of the year to a certain devotion. The month of October is dedicated to the holy Rosary, one of the best known of all Catholic devotions. October includes the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary (October 7). The best way to celebrate the month is, of course, to pray the Rosary.

The Rosary draws its mysteries from the New Testament and is centered on the great events of the Incarnation and Redemption with each decade referring to an event in the life of Jesus and Mary. The Mysteries of the Rosary give us “thumbnails” of the life of Christ and his Mother.
  • The Joyful Mysteries are taken mostly from Saint Luke’s Gospel in the New Testament. They involve the joyful events of Jesus’ childhood.
  • The Luminous Mysteries bring a deeper understanding to the public life of Jesus. They fill in the blanks between the childhood of Jesus and His suffering and death on the cross.
  • The Sorrowful Mysteries remind us of how much Jesus loves us. They recall how He suffered and died just for us.
  • The Glorious Mysteries tell us what happened after Jesus died-His Resurrection, the descent of the Holy Spirit and the love Jesus had for his Mother.
Just as we will pray the rosary in our classrooms and as a school, families are encouraged to pray the rosary together throughout the year.
